Beyond their fields, they invest in people, with nearly 50 local men and women, made up of families, students, and long-time employees who take pride in what they grow, they are one of their rural area’s largest employers. Urbanite reflects Canadian values of diversity and inclusion by hiring from the oil and gas industry, but also marginalized youth, and people looking to re-enter the workforce after having been through the justice system. They have created a three-day Solar 101 course covering the basics of solar electricity, giving participants an entry-level grasp of topics such as electrical energy generation, the components involved, and how solar energy interacts with the existing electricity grid.
